  1. Click Start
  2. Click Control Panel
  3. Click Switch to Classic View
  4. Click View
  5. Click Details
  6. Click Display
  7. Click the Desktop tab
  8. Click Customize Desktop
  9. Uncheck Run Desktop Cleanup, and then click OK
  10. Click the Screen Saver tab
  11. Choose (None) for the Screen Saver
  12. Click Power
  13. Change Turn off monitor to Never
  14. Click Apply, and then click OK
  15. Click the Appearance tab
  16. Change the color scheme to Silver
  17. Click Effects
  18. Uncheck Use the following transition
  19. Uncheck Show shadows under menus
  20. Click OK
  21. Click the Settings tab
  22. Change Screen resolution to 1024x768 pixels
  23. Click Advanced
  24. Click the Monitor tab
  25. Change Screen refresh rate to 75 Hertz
  26. Click Apply
  27. Click Yes
  28. Click OK
  29. Click OK
  1. Click Folder Options
  2. Click View
  3. Check the following boxes:
  4. Display the contents of system folders
  5. Display the full path in the title bar
  6. Display the full path in the address bar
  7. Show hidden files and folders
  8. Uncheck the following:
  9. Automatically search for network folders and printer
  10. Hid extensions for known file types
  11. Click Apply
  12. Click Apply to All Folders
  13. Click Yes
  14. Click OK
  1. Click Internet Options
  2. Click Use Blank, and then click Apply
  3. Click the Content tab
  4. Click AutoComplete
  5. Check Forms, and then click Apply
  6. Click the Connections tab
  7. Click LAN Settings
  8. Check Automatically detect settings, and then click OK
  9. Click Setup
  10. Type area code, and then click OK
  11. Click OK
  12. Click Next
  13. Click Next
  14. Select Set up my connection manually, and then click Next
  15. Select Connect using a broadband connection, and then click
  16. Next
  17. Click Finish
  18. Click the Programs tab
  19. Change HTML editor to Notepad
  20. Uncheck Internet Explorer should check to see whether it is the default browser, and then click Apply
  21. Click the Advanced tab
  22. Uncheck the following:
  23. Enable Install on Demand (Other)
  24. Enable page transitions
  25. Notify when downloads complete
  26. Show Go in the address bar
  27. Check the following:
  28. Use inline AutoComplete
  29. Use Passive FTP
  30. Do not search from the Address bar
  31. Empty Temporary Internet Files folder when browser is closed
  32. Click Apply
  33. Click OK
  1. Click Mouse
  2. Click the Pointer tab
  3. Change Scheme to 3D-White (system scheme)
  4. Uncheck Enable pointer shadow
  5. Click the Pointer Options tab
  6. Uncheck Hide pointer when typing
  7. Click Apply, and then click OK
  1. Click Sounds and Audio Devices
  2. Check Place volume icon in taskbar
  3. Click Sounds Tab
  4. Choose No Sounds for the Sound Scheme
  5. Click No
  6. Click Apply, and then click OK
  1. Click System
  2. Click the Advanced tab
  3. Click the Settings button under Performance
  4. Select Adjust for best performance
  5. Check the following:
  6. Show window contents while dragging
  7. Smooth edges on screen fonts
  8. Use drop shadows for icon labels
  9. Use visual styles on windows and buttons
  10. Click Apply, and then click OK
  11. Click the Error Reporting tab
  12. Select Disable error reporting
  13. Uncheck But notify me when critical errors occur, and then click OK
  14. Click the System Restore tab
  15. Check Turn off System Restore on all drives
  16. Click Apply, and then click Yes
  17. Click the Automatic Updates tab
  18. Select Turn off automatic updating
  19. Click the Remote tab
  20. Uncheck Allow Remote Assistance
  21. Click Apply, and then click OK
  1. Click Taskbar and Start Menu
  2. Uncheck Lock the taskbar
  3. Check Show Quick Launch
  4. Click the Start Menu tab
  5. Select Classic Start menu
  6. Click Customize
  7. Check Display Favorites
  8. Check Show Small Icons in Start Menu
  9. Uncheck Use Personalized Menus
  10. Click OK
  11. Click Apply
  12. Click OK
  1. Click User Accounts
  2. Click Change the way users log on and off
  3. Uncheck Use the Welcome screen
  4. Click Apply Options
  5. Close the Window
  6. Exit the Control Panel
  1. Open My Computer
  2. Right-click on the hard drive icon and select Properties
  3. Uncheck Allow Indexing Service to index this disk for fast searching
  4. Click Apply
  5. Select Apply changes to X:\, subfolders and files, and then click OK
  6. Click OK
  7. Reboot machine
