Illegal Operations are caused when Applications
cannot communicate directly with the processor, they must access
through the core Windows 95/98 system files:
These files include: gdi.exe, gdi32.dll, krnl386.exe, kernel32.dll,
user.exe, user.dll. If an application attempts to access the
processor directly an illegal operation error is generated when a
problem is encountered. The most absolute way to eliminate the error is to reinstall the
software separately or backup your personal data and use the Quick
Restore.
You can also try the following -
1. Restart the computer
2. When the computer has rebooted, hit CTRL-ALT-DEL
3. Close ALL applications running in the background via the End Task
window
4. Close ALL except SYSTRAY and EXPLORER
Once this has been done, try using the computer again as you
normally would to see if the problems persist.
If the problems do persist, do a complete uninstall of ALL third
party software that has been installed and test the system.
If everything is performing correctly as it should, then re-install
one individual program at a time and test the system. If all goes
well and you have no errors, install the next program you originally
had on the system...
Hope this helps!
